‘Dear future mom, your child can be happy. Just like I am’, touching video gives a message of hope to a future mom expecting a baby with Down’s syndrome
Some people complain, that the videos and stories clogging up their Facebook newsfeeds often fall well short of their intended purpose. But this one is not only beautifully shot, it is made with a real purpose.
A video, featuring 15 young adult actors with Down’s syndrome, has been released as part of World Down Syndrome Day which is on March 21st. The video launched on Youtube has had more than a million views in less than a week.
Last month, CoorDown, a non-profit that works with people with Down syndrome and their families, received an email from an expecting mother who had recently found out her child would be born with Down syndrome. She said she was scared about the type of life her child would have. CoorDown created a video in response. The film was created by Saatchi & Saatchi for CoorDown.
The video features a group of 15 young adult actors and children from across Europe suffering from Down’s syndrome. Sarah Gordy who appeared in BBC1’s Call the Midwife, has Down’s syndrome and has acted in the video. It shows a group of young people with Down’s syndrome, all of whom address the mother to explain what her child will be able to do.
