Police Search for Missing Somnambulist for about a Day
A woman with a history of sleepwalking went missing for 22 hours in her dressing gown after which police launched a major hunt. Wendy Richards, 43, walked out of her home in Stretton, Burton-upon-Trent, at around 9.30pm last night.
Staffordshire Police said she was found around 8.30pm this evening near her home. She was described as ‘a bit cold’ but safe and well. Medics were checking her over.
A force spokesman said: ‘We pass on our best wishes to this individual. Thank you to all team members for responding so swiftly and willingly.’
Police said Ms Richards is a regular sleepwalker and has previously been found some distance away from her house. Officers also said the incident has grown their concern about her welfare.
Ms Richards, described fair, about 5ft 5ins, slim, with shoulder-length brown hair, and was believed to be wearing blue flowery long-sleeved pyjamas, and a brown dressing gown was located in a hedge near Camelford, Cornwall, at 12.30am the following day.
