92 Yr Old Pensioner Becomes Britain’s Oldest Paedophile To Be Caught
A pensioner has become Britain’s oldest paedophile to be caught after trying to meet an 11 year old girl to sexually abuse her. 92 year old Ivor Gifford was trapped after using chatrooms to meet young girls by a group calling themselves ‘The Hunted One’. The group posed as an 11 yr old girl Jessie and her friend Jodie, 12.
Within minutes of Ivor meeting the girls, he had started asking about sex and told them to ‘wear something sexy’ when they met face to face. Ivor also sent explicit images of himself to the group, thinking they were the two underage girls.
Prosecutor Owen Williams said: ‘He was persistent in his attempts. In over 100 pages of messages, you will see that the vast majority refer to a sexual act.
‘Mr Gifford graphically describes sexual acts. He sent images of himself naked.’
He added: ‘[The Hunted One] do not instigate conversations of a sexual nature but wait for the ‘contacter’ to do that.
‘He then went a stage further, having groomed online he made arrangements to meet her.’
Mr Williams said the purpose was to ‘potentially sexually abuse or exploit’ a child for sex.
When Ivor was arrested in Llanhilleth, South Wales, he told police ‘I hope I die before this is out. I know how my family will react.’
Mr Gifford denied the two charges of attempting to incite a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.
He started using the internet two years ago to find a housekeeper when his wife, 68, died in 2014. He said he was ‘lonely’ and learned to use the chat sites to meet people to talk to.
He said that he believed the girls to be much older – but a jury rejected that and found him guilty. Gifford was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on June 2.
