In disturbing scenes typically seen in a budget horror movie, blood was seen seeping from the ground outside a funeral home.

Horrific photographs show a mixture of blood and embalming fluid streaming down a road outside Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Thursday.

Apparently, this wasn’t the work of Freddy Kruger but due to a blockage in a valve causing a storage tank to leak.

Officials from Baton Rouge said the blood, which was mixed with an embalming fluid containing formaldehyde, did not find its way into the city’s sewer systems.

Adam Smith, from the City of Baton Rouge Department of Environmental Services, told WBRZ: ‘We sent out both our sewer inspector and our environmental specialists to take a look.

We determined that it wasn’t a sewer issue and that it was an issue on private property.’

Smith told the local news channel how the issue was on ‘private property’ and that the funeral home owner said the leak lasted for about 20 minutes.

Officials also said the funeral home is under new management and that it did not have the correct permits.

The funeral home, which is owned by Dignity Memorial, reportedly apologised for any inconvenience the leak caused.
