A woman whose dog grabbed something in its mouth after it had washed up on the beach had expected to find a dead bird.
However, Julie Edwards was shocked to discover that her basset hound Molly had instead found an intact penis and testicles.
The dog walker came across the body parts on Monday after taking Molly to Brean Beach in Somerset. She immediately contacted the beach warden who then reported the find to Avon & Somerset Police, where it is yet to be identified.
But Julie is convinced that it was human and looked very much like an intact penis and male testicles.
She told Somerset Live: ‘I could see she was about to roll something around. It is usually maggots or birds but I stopped her and saw it wasn’t that at all.
‘It definitely looked human to me. I think it was an intact penis and male testicles.
‘It was upsetting more later on when you actually think that’s it could be someone’s relative.’ So far police are unclear whether the body part is human or belonged to another animal.
