A husband and wife have been found dead at separate addresses in a suspected a murder-suicide.
Police were called by the ambulance service after the body of a man named locally as James Barnes, 30, was found at his parents’ house in Streetly, West Midlands, just after midnight on Tuesday.
Around 40 minutes later a woman, identified as his wife Amy, was discovered dead at what is believed to be the couple’s home 15 miles away on Cofton Park Close, in Rednall, Birmingham.
They are believed to have got married three years ago and hours before their deaths, Mr Barnes updated his Facebook profile picture to show them on their wedding day.
West Midlands Police said it is understood that a woman was murdered before the man took his own life in the garden of the Streetly address.
A spokesperson added: ‘Detectives are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
‘Forensic post mortem examinations will take place in due course on the deceased who were both aged in their 30s.
‘Both areas have been cordoned off while enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.’
A friend wrote on Facebook saying ‘my heart goes out to you’.
Neighbours described them as a ‘perfectly normal, friendly couple’. Another said: ‘I am just simply numb from what we’ve heard so far. I cannot believe it.
‘I can’t really say much more than that as I’m still in complete shock. They were really friendly and I just feel so sad this had happened. Such a tragedy.’
The husband is believed to have killed himself in his parents’ garden.
