Beast from the east 2.0, heading your way

The met office has confirmed snow is forecast to cover almost all of Britain in a heavy layer, sending temperatures plummeting. Cold weather is due to sweep in from Siberia and Scandinavia causing freezing temperatures giving us all the first tastes of what’s set to be a long, icy winter.

A yellow weather warning has been put in place with it expecting to change to red for most of the UK as the horrifying weather creeps in. The met office uses three colors to warn us about extream weather, yellow, amber and red. The red warning meaning you should take action to keep safe. The Environmental Agency has also issued flood warnings for the south west of England and Northern Ireland, as heavy rainfall is expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

The snow is expected to hit the UK from Sunday into early next week, making the record-breaking hot summer seem like a distant memory. Temperatures in some places are set to drop by 17 degrees making the UK feel more like Moscow. Meteorologists are claiming this winter will be the coldest the UK has seen for years, long-range weather predictors have shown there will be a number of widespread snow events this winter.

The best things you can do to prepare for the cold weather are to stay indoors and keep warm, prepare for power cuts, keep up to date with weather information and keep a check on others in your community especially the very young and elderly.
