Anyone who is petrified of clowns might want to avoid staying at this creepy clown motel located in the remote Nevada desert, in fact it’s best if you avoid reading this article too.

The motel is popular with truckers, bikers and long haul drivers and is situated in the former mining town of Tonopah, USA. The scary looking neon clown in the car park gives you a small taste of what’s to come inside.

Welcome to the Clown Motel …located in the middle of nowhere

The lobby is filled with weird clown portraits and the glassy-eyed clowns which adorn the shelves seem to watch your every move.

Giving you the warmest welcome is the most famous clown of all, Ronald McDonald

One of the characters you will get to know well during your stay

Meet some of the permanent residence of the desert motel

Why not take a seat while you wait for some service – The mind boggles at what’s on the display

If that doesn’t freak you out, then there’s a life-size clown sitting in a chair that looks like a crazed guest that has outstayed his welcome. Also, rumours have it that some of the staff even where clown pants.

Just to note, this clown is not a man in a costume (as far as can be established)

After all that clowning around it’s time for bed inside one of the motel’s rooms

If you do decide to stay at this motel, then you might not be able to get a good nights sleep after you turn the lights off, especially when you look outside your window and notice the cemetery that contains the bodies of several people who died of a mysterious plague in 1902, and 14 miners who were killed in a fire in 1911, all buried in graves that are marked with tin signs and leaning wooden crosses.

The cemetery next door is not an inviting place for a midnight walk

Rise and shine! Hopefully all the coulrophobic guests had a good night’s sleep and are ready to hit the road

Despite the eeriness of the motel, people who have stayed there have left good reviews on TripAdvisor, with one woman saying “I was delighted with this motel.

“Definitely a novel experience.

“Barring the transparent creepiness, the locality is infested with black cats and the cleaning-man wears clown pants.”
